2. Blogging Platform

Your next thing to do is to choose what blogging platform to be used.

Blogging platform is a software where you are going to write a content on your blog.

The common blogging platforms that bloggers are geared to use are the Blogger and WordPress blogging platform.

For beginner that has low budget, the Blogger platform is the best choice as it comes with free hosting.

You only need to buy a domain name for about $5.00 to $10.00 per year.

However, if you have a budget and have some knowledge about blogging, then WordPress is the best choice.

But, you need to buy a self-hosted server for installing WordPress application.

3. Domain

Once you have decided what niche you are going to write on your blog and what blogging platform to be used, the next thing to do is to find a domain.

A domain is the website address or URL of your unique blog.

When people type your unique address in the search engine, they will be landed on your blog.

Example of domains are www.facebook.com, www.google.com, www.tiktok.com, etc.

As suggested, your domain name must have relationship with your niche.

For example, if your niche focuses on technology, then you may write your domain like mydomaintech.com or techdomain.com.

However, since it is your own blog, you can choose any domain name.

Tips in choosing a domain name:

  • must be 4 to 12 characters or letters in length
  • easy to remember
  • avoid using hyphen (-)
  • use a .com extension
  • must be related to your topics
  • one to two words domain name is ideal

4. Webhost

Webhost is another important thing to do in building a blog.

It is where your blog is hosted so that your content on your blog will be live online.

Both Blogger and WordPress blogging platforms are using webhost to store your files or content online.

Blogger is a free hosted blogging platform where you can store your files online for free.

Meanwhile, WordPress is a self-hosted blogging platform where you need to buy a webhost in order to store your files online.

If you will use WordPress as a blogging platform, you need to buy a webhost to host your blog.

You can buy it on Hostinger, Bluehost, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.

The good with these hosting providers is that they offer a free .com domain extension when you subscribe to their 1 or more year hosting plan.

Thus, you do not need to buy a separate .com domain extension if you have plan to buy a webhost plan.

These are some of things you need to consider in building a profitable blog.

Some of the above-suggested details are optional where it is your choice to use the free one (with limitation) or the self-hosted one where you can do anything because of the WordPress plugins.
